Salah Aldeen shares with us his career journey and experience with Al-Futtaim Automotive:
My Al-Futtaim career started in 2008, as a Service Advisor in Toyota. Despite having no prior automotive experience after my High school education, I was able to do an acceptable job in this role with the help of my mentors and training provided by the company.
I have learned very early in life that in order to be successful in your career, you need to have a passion and commitment towards the job that you do. Al-Futtaim Motors noticed the contribution in my role at the time and promoted me to the role of Lexus Service consultant in 2010. To further develop myself, I sought after my next goal which was the desire to obtain higher education, I pursued BBA whilst working and succeeded in completion in 2013.
With Al-Futtaim Automotive there is always room for new opportunities, I personally was blessed with the opportunity of moving internally within the group companies and getting the chance to work as a Reception Manager for Trading Enterprises in 2012. Also, I was fortunate to be part of the Intilaq program, a leadership program for Emiratis which helped me a lot with my career growth.
As I consistently delivered the expectations of the company, the next stop in my career path was another promotion with the role of an Aftersales Manager responsible of the complete After Sales operations of Sharjah Service Centre. I was also responsible for the profitability of the branch including the Customer and employee engagement. I’m proud to say that I was the first Emirati to head a complete Aftersales branch in the entire Al Futtaim group. My most recent promotion was in January 2017, where I got promoted to become a Dealer Principal in charge of handling the 3S facility in Sharjah branch (Sales, Service and Spare parts).
My desire to pursue higher education did not end with BBA as I enrolled for MBA in Strategic Management & Leadership and completed it in 2016.
Apart from being in the business operation since 2008, I was also fully engaged with Emiratisation supporting UAE nationals in the company. The branch of Trading Enterprises which I work in solely has 43% UAE nationals working in the sales department and 40% within after sales department. In Al-Futtaim, Automotive Nationals tend to work in all roles and their contributions and overall achievements are noticeable and appreciated by the top management.
Last but not the least, my message to everyone, believe in yourself because there is no end to success. As His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid said “Every single achievement you make every single life you change and every single skill you acquire brings you one step closer to becoming a better leader”
